Democracy Support in Hard Places: Can We Do Better?

In anticipation of the Summit, Carnegie Endowment for International Peace on 3 December 2021 will take stock of lessons learned on international democracy support in conflict-affected contexts and discuss how to formulate a new playbook to assist democracies in fragile settings. Topics to discuss will include potentially overlapping goals of democracy support and mitigating conflict, and what lessons can be drawn from existing experiences.
